Leeds United suffer major injury blow ahead of Bristol City season opener

Leeds United have suffered a major injury blow ahead of their opening game of the season with Bristol City.

The Robins hosts Marcelo Bielsa's side in what is an eagerly-anticipated way to start the season on August 4.

With City firmly eyeing up the play-offs this season, a match against one of the pre-season favourites for the Championship title is sure to provide an early barometer for Lee Johnson's side.

Yet Leeds will be missing key player Kemar Roofe, who has been ruled out of the clash through injury.

Their talismanic striker suffered an ankle injury in the Whites' pre-season friendly win over Western Sydney Wanderers, and it has now been confirmed he will be out of action for around a month.

There were initial concerns that the striker would be out for a much longer period of time, but he will still miss the trip to Ashton Gate.

However, with Leeds having added Wolves winger Helder Costa to their squad this summer, their attack is still something the Robins need to be wary of going into the game.
