Leeds United suffer Arnaud Kalimuendo transfer blow with PSG striker set to stay in France

Leeds United's pursuit of PSG striker Arnaud Kalimuendo has reportedly suffered a huge blow. According to a fresh report from L'Equipe, Rennes are 'very close' to agreeing a deal to sign the forward for £21 million.

The 20-year-old has been linked with a move to Leeds this summer with the club looking to recruit a striker to provide competition for Patrick Bamford, however Kalimuendo is reportedly set to move to Rennes. The Whites missed out on number one target Charles De Ketelaere to AC Milan, and other centre-forward options are being explored.

Kalimuendo is reportedly one attacker the Whites were keen on. However, there was some uncertainty as to whether he'd even leave the club, with the striker impressing new PSG head coach Christophe Galtier during pre-season.

If he joins Rennes, Kalimuendo will link up with Martin Terrier, who has been linked a move to Elland Road this summer. Rennes can offer Kalimuendo the pull of European football, with the club in this season's Europa League.

The report from L'Equipe said: "Stade Rennais and PSG were, in recent hours, very close to finalising their agreement for a transfer estimated at 25 million euros, bonus included. A transaction with a percentage on a future resale of the attacker."
