Leeds United striker Ryan Edmondson 'loving' life and impressing at Port Vale

Ryan Edmondson says he is loving life on loan at Port Vale after securing his move from Leeds United at the beginning of January.

The 20-year-old struggled in the first half of the season at Fleetwood Town but he is already enjoying more success in Stoke-on-Trent.

He opened his account for the Vale in their 1-1 draw with Forest Green on Tuesday evening as he put the finishing touch to an in-swinging corner after 12 minutes.

It was just Edmondson’s second start for the League Two side after making three appearances from the bench and he is already building relationships with his team mates and the supporters.

He told Stoke-on-Trent Live : “The fans were different class. On a Tuesday night especially, it is difficult to get fans down to the ground so it is all credit to them. I don’t think we could have put in the performance we did without them.

“I have loved coming into the club. It is a really positive environment and I think for a young striker to get off the mark this early… especially with the players, manager and coaching staff around you, supporting you 100 per cent.

“I just can’t wait to get going again on Saturday.”

After the young striker’s struggles prior to agreeing a deal with Port Vale, it is brilliant to see him finally enjoying some success away from Leeds.

It seems unlikely that he will be able to break into Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team plans for next season so it is important that he builds a foundation for the rest of his career.

More goals in the next few months might see Edmondson work his way into the thinking of recruitment teams at League One and maybe even Championship clubs.

A loan or a permanent deal at another club is likely to beckon in the summer so it is vital that the youngster continues to impress in the fourth tier this season.
