Leeds United star Patrick Bamford reveals the key to remaining fit during season suspension

Patrick Bamford has explained how keeping a daily routine has been crucial to maintaining his Leeds United training programme.

The Whites haven't played since their 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town over a month ago.

Training too has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 lockdown, with players forced to maintain their fitness on their own.

Like most football clubs, each Leeds United players has been sent a programme to ensure they maintain their physical fitness during the lockdown.

Speaking to the media, Bamford revealed how he has insisted on maintaining a routine, often ensuring he is up early to complete his exercises before continuing the rest of his day, rather than sleeping in.

"I've tried to keep a routine in terms of getting up in a morning and doing our program straight away," he explained.

"Then I'll come back and have breakfast and get on with the day. As long as I've got the routine, it's not bad really. It's when I get up late that I lose my motivation.

"All of the fit players, who aren't carrying little niggles, they are getting sent a program which alters day-to-day but it generally has one bit or running and one bit of gym.

"Sometimes the gym can be short movement patterns outside and somedays we have the exercise bikes rather than running, which they delivered to everyone's homes. The programme is from Monday to Saturday, we have Sunday off and then go again on Monday."
