Leeds United star makes transfer joke about Man City player Benjamin Mendy

Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has jokingly tried to convince Benjamin Mendy to make the move to Elland Road, and his former Man City teammate Ian Carlo Poveda got in on the act as well.

Mendy was in attendance as Leeds took on Millwall and witnessed a minor classic, with the Yorkshire side coming from two goals down to win the game and move back to the top of the Championship table.

The left-back was there on the invitation of new Leeds striker and compatriot Jean-Kevin Augustin, and also got to meet up with Poveda as well as his former manager at Marseilles Marcelo Bielsa.

Leeds star Phillips was suspended for the clash but it did give him a chance to snap a photo with Mendy, which he posted on Instragam with the caption: "Unbelievable 2nd half well done boys! That’s how we do it. Tried convincing Benjamin Mendy to sign for us! I'll keep working on it!"

Poveda, who left the Blues for Leeds in January and was an unused substitute in the match, also got involved in the banter.

The 19-year-old winger replied, saying: "Bro he will come for sure next season in the Prem! Agent Phillips."

Mendy has struggled with a myriad of injury problems during his time at City but is finally enjoying a consistent run in the team and has already made the most appearances in a single campaign for the Blues this season.
