Leeds United right-back Luke Ayling has been named the Championship PFA Fans' Player of the Year for the 2019/20 campaign, the Whites have announced.
The former Bristol City and Yeovil Town defender played a massive role in helping the Whites seal their long-awaited return to the Premier League, racking up 37 league appearances across the course of the campaign, chipping in with four goals.
Ayling, 28, also played a key part in a defensive sense as well, of course, helping Marcelo Bielsa's troops register 15 Championship clean-sheets as they stormed their way to the Championship title.
The right-back, who will be looking to showcase his qualities in the Premier League for the first time in his career next month, was instrumental for the Whites, scoring vital goals in wins against Birmingham City, Bristol City, Hull City and, of course, his Goal of the Season piledriver against West Yorkshire neighbours Huddersfield Town.
Ayling was named on a six-man shortlist for the accolade, alongside Eberechi Eze of Queens Park Rangers, West Bromwich Albion architect Matheus Pereira, Brentford star Said Benrahma, Fulham striker Aleksander Mitrovic and Ollie Watkins, also of Brentford.
But Ayling has come out an top, with Leeds supporters voting in their thousands to ensure he scooped the gong.
It is the third time that Ayling has been rewarded with a PFA award during the 2019/20 season, as he scooped the Championship PFA Fans' Player of the Month award back in December and February.
It is a fantastic achievement for the defender, especially when you take into account that he missed the first nine games of the Championship season as he continued his recovery from ankle surgery.
