Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips tipped to be Jordan Henderson's Liverpool and England successor

Garth Crooks has compared Kalvin Phillips to Bryan Robson after his performance for Leeds United against Everton.

The Whites midfielder has returned after a month-long lay-off to help his side to a goalless draw against Arsenal before Saturday's 1-0 win over Everton.

Phillips' performance in midfield won plenty of praise and has continued his excellent start to the season.

It has now also earned him a place in BBC pundit Crooks' team of the week.

Crooks believes Phillips is starting to make a name for himself in the Premier League thanks to his performances in holding midfield.

Where can Leeds United hurt Chelsea?

Comparing the 24-year-old to legendary midfielder Robson, Crooks also said he thinks Phillips could be a potential replacement for Jordan Henderson at Liverpool in the future.

Crooks said: "Leeds missed Kalvin Phillips against Leicester and Crystal Palace, but not against Everton.

"The England international is making a name for himself and was far too sharp for the Toffees.

"This kid reminds me of a young Bryan Robson when the former Manchester United and England captain played for West Brom.

"Phillips can cover the ground, he's not afraid to stick his foot in, and sees the pass.

"He doesn't immediately grab your attention but given time you begin to realise the enormous contribution he's making to the game.

"I think he's the perfect replacement for Jordan Henderson and I don't mean just for England."

Despite a strong team performance n the victory at Goodison Park, Phillips was the only Leeds representative in Crooks' team of the week.

There were three Man City players in the team after their 5-0 win over Burnley, two Wolves players, two Spurs players, two Man United players and Liverpool's Diogo Jota also included.
