Leeds United star Jack Harrison sent Jack Grealish and James Maddison warning amid England talk

Nigel de Jong believes it will be difficult for Jack Harrison to break into the England squad for the upcoming European Championships this summer.

The 24-year-old former Manchester City man has been in fine form for Leeds United this season in the Premier League.

Harrison has had 10 direct goal involvements - six goals and four assists - in 21 top-flight appearances for the Whites so far this term.

The English attacker was superb in Marcelo Bielsa's side's 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Monday night, scoring the opening goal - albeit via a big deflection.

There have been some calls for Harrison to be called up to Gareth Southgate's England squad for this summer's delayed European Championships.

However, the Three Lions have an array of attacking talent in the Leeds star's position, with the likes of Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford, Mason Mount, Jack Grealish and James Maddison all bidding for a place in the squad.

This is something that former Man City midfielder De Jong has warned Harrison about, when talking to beIN Sports.

“Of course, he could be a potential future candidate to be in the squad of England, especially on that left side. He’s more of a power wing-back, for me. Than an actual left-winger," the ex-Netherlands World Cup finalist said.

“Left winger, no, because you have the likes of Grealish, Mount, Maddison, Rashford and Sterling, so it’s going to be hard for him to get into that position.

“But as a left-back or as a power wing-back, an engine room, yes, I think he can potentially be in the England squad.”

As it stands, SkyBet have listed Harrison as a bit of a longshot to make his country's Euros squad - at 16/1.

The Leeds man is likely to be involved on Sunday afternoon, as the Yorkshire club make the trip to north London to face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
