Leeds United squad get straight to work after landing in Australia

The Leeds United squad touched down in Australia on Sunday after a 22-hour journey from the UK - and were straight in the gym.

The 16-man travelling squad left Manchester airport on Saturday lunchtime and following a change in Dubai landed in Perth on Sunday ahead of their pre-season double header Down Under.

Their first match sees them take on old rivals Manchester United at the Optus Stadium in Perth on Wednesday in what is a 12 noon UK-time kick-off, before Leeds head out west to face Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday.

With Marcelo Bielsa naming a typically streamlined 16-man playing squad for the tour, each member of the team will get plenty of playing minutes on the tour, but before that it was straight in the gym for the players.

After landing in Perth at 6.30pm local time, the players were in the gym less than an hour later as they looked to stretch their legs following the long-haul flight.

Bielsa decided to keep a number of first-team players , including summer signings Helder Costa and Ben White back at Thorp Arch to work on their fitness, following their late arrivals to pre-season training last month.

Ahead of Wednesday's first match there are a number of events taking place, such as a three-a-side tournament an open training session and a pre-match party before the game against the Red Devils.

LeedsLive are out in Australia and will bring you full coverage of the tour.
