Leeds United social media blackout as Manchester United star admits Raphinha fears

Here is the early morning Leeds United digest on Sunday, April 25.

Leeds join social media protest

Leeds United will join clubs across the country in a social media boycott next weekend as English football looks to make a stand over ongoing discriminatory abuse suffered by players and other connected to the game.

All professional teams across the Premier League, EFL, FA Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Championship will join the FA, PFA, LMA, PGMOL, Kick It Out and the FSA in temporarily switching off their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.

The 'blackout' will start at 3pm on Friday, April 30 and last until 23.59pm on Monday, May 3.

The boycott will cover a full weekend of fixtures across the bank holiday weekend, including Leeds United's trip to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

Man United man hoping Raphinha loses fitness battle

Leeds United winger Raphinha is the talk of the Manchester United squad ahead of their visit to Elland Road on Sunday - even if they cannot agree on whether they want to face the Brazilian.

The Whites playmaker missed out on Monday night against Liverpool after he was forced off in the closing stages of Leeds' previous match at Manchester City and remains a doubt this weekend.

At Old Trafford, Manchester United duo Fred and Bruno Fernandes are split on whether this is a good thing or not.

Raphinha's compatriot Fred is crossing his fingers that the Leeds man loses his fitness battle as he moved to praise the 24-year-old.

Here's what he said in full.

Bielsa on handing out debuts

Debuts will not be handed out like confetti by Marcelo Bielsa to the likes of Joe Gelhardt or Sam Greenwood before Leeds United’s season ends.

Historically, there has been a trend across professional football for youngsters to be blooded in dead rubbers across the final weeks of a campaign when there is little left to play.

However, the Whites head coach, who has preached a similar stance in the past at Elland Road, remains steadfast in his belief the shirt will be earned and youth prospects will play on merit.
