Leeds United showed 'bottle' and 'shoved two fingers up' to everyone wishing they would fail

EFL on Quest host Colin Murray has praised Leeds United’s ‘bottle’ after they twice came from behind to beat Millwall 3-2 and move back into the Championship automatic promotion places.

The Whites win, coupled with Sheffield United’s 3-2 reverse against Bristol City, means Marcelo Bielsa’s men are back up to second, two points clear of their Yorkshire rivals.

Murray was joined by former Whites defender Steven Warnock, who was also quick to praise United’s character and spirit.

Leeds United prove again why late goals and comebacks would be the legacy of Premier League return

It was the Northern Irishman’s comments, however, which caught the eye, describing United as ‘sticking two fingers up’ to those who have doubted them.

He said: “ [Pablo] Hernandez was brilliant, one of his best-ever performances for Leeds United today, but what I loved about today, there’s more pressure on them than any other team in the Championship , big Leeds United, a lot of people probably want them to fail, they shoved two fingers up to them.

“They showed such bottle and chased every single ball, look at the second goal, a prime example of how much they wanted it today

“4.43pm on the 30th of March, that could be a minute of football we might come back to on the final day of the season. How the pendulum swung.”

Warnock praised the fitness of Bielsa’s side, as their never-say-die attitude saw them bounce back to claim all three points.

"To come from behind, to score that goal, the relief around Elland Road and the noise that was made was incredible,” he said.

How Chris Wilder sees the promotion fight with Leeds United after Sheffield United slip-up

“There’s been a lot made about Bielsa and the fitness of his teams. Look at this goal, the Millwall players think it’s going out of play and Leeds don’t give up on it. Ayling gets his rewards, a great header. Bielsa will have them fired up and Leeds are a real threat.”

Leeds take on Birmingham City next time out, who are without a win in five games.
