Leeds United show support for Ukraine with brilliant programme cover ahead of Aston Villa clash

Leeds United are showing their solidarity with the people of Ukraine in this evening’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa at Elland Road.

They announced earlier this week that they will be raising funds for the Humanitarian Appeal set up by the Disasters Emergency Committee [DEC] in response to Russia’s invasion.

One of the ways in which money will be raised is through the matchday programme, priced at £3.50, which is sporting the colours of the Ukraine flag as you can see below.

All proceeds from programme sales will be donated while flags bearing the blue and yellow colours will be sold outside the ground for £6.

There will also be bucket collections around Elland Road if supporters wish to donate in support of the relief efforts in Ukraine.

This evening’s programme will be a special one for another reason this evening as it will include Jesse Marsch’s first programme notes as Leeds boss.

There are columns inside from Liam Cooper as well as the club’s chief executive, Angus Kinnear.

As there has been in the Premier League’s recent fixtures elsewhere, there will be a defiant show of support for the people of Ukraine prior to kick-off, something that was conducted immaculately by the travelling Leeds supporters at King Power Stadium on Saturday.

If you are unable to throw in a few pounds in the buckets at Elland Road tonight, you can donate to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal by texting DONATE to 70150 to donate £10 to help provide food, water, shelter, healthcare and protection (texts cost £10 plus your standard network charge).
