Leeds United set to seal first transfer exit of Premier League era as Victor Orta cuts back

Promising striker Ryan Edmondson is in Scotland to complete a loan move to top-flight Aberdeen as he looks to kickstart his Leeds United career.

The 19-year-old travelled north of the border yesterday to complete the formalities on the temporary switch to Pittodrie, which is expected to run until January 2021.

As first reported by LeedsLive’s sister title Daily Record, Derek McInnes is short of striking options with the Scottish Premiership season getting underway tomorrow.

The Whites are also keen to tie up a new deal for the former York City hitman, whose current contract expires next summer.

Edmondson has been among the goals with United’s under-18 and under-23 teams ever since he arrived at Thorp Arch from York in November 2017.

However, a sustained breakthrough into the first team has proved beyond him up to now. A debut from the bench under Paul Heckingbottom in May 2018 was followed by his only appearance under Marcelo Bielsa in September 2018.

While many of his under-23 peers have been making matchday squads under Bielsa, Edmondson has found himself out of the picture despite his goals in the youth ranks.

The switch to the Dons will give the teenager a chance to regularly test himself against senior professionals.
