Leeds United set ambitious target on Premier League return by talkSPORT's Alan Brazil

Alan Brazil says a club the size of Leeds United need to be targeting a top-six finish in the Premier League.

All eyes will be on how the Whites perform on their return to the Premier League, with the presence of Marcelo Bielsa and signings such as Rodrigo putting the pressure on to avoid a relegation battle.

Leeds start the season with a trip to defending champions Liverpool on Saturday in a game that could be a big test of their Premier League credentials.

Yet talkSPORT presenter Brazil says, rather than focus on securing safety, the Whites must be looking to break into the Premier League's top six sooner rather than later.

The former Manchester United and Scotland star admits this will not be easy, however, due to the amount of money being spent at the top end of the division.

He said: "It's a money game, I'm afraid.

"The top six now, for me, it's going to be so difficult to break into.

"I hear Everton talking about top six and Everton are a massive club like Leeds United.

"I think top six is so difficult now - Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, with what they've spent, and Manchester United have got to be in there.

"That's four right away, but then there's the two north London clubs, Wolves and Leicester.

"So to get in that top six is really hard but that's Leeds' aim.

"They're a big club with massive support.

"They've got to be thinking about getting among that top six within three or four years."
