Leeds United's Sky Sports earnings in full after Marcelo Bielsa's side see 18th match of the season televised

Leeds United's earnings from televised fixtures have hit the million pound mark for the season.

It was announced last week Easter Monday’s game at Brentford this season, not including matches on their red button service.

Leeds have been on Sky Sports more than any other team this season, with Saturday's match against Sheffield United the 18th televised match this season - not to mention the four that have been available on the red button.

There are at least three more televised games to come, with Brentford added to Sheffield Wednesday and Preston North End, with more likely to be announced for the final run-in.

The EFL pay Championship clubs £100,000 for every home game a club hosts on Sky Sports, with that figure going up to £120,000 for games being played on a Sunday and £140,000 for Tuesday games, while visiting sides are awarded £10,000 per game.

Leeds have earned £920,000 from games at Elland Road this season and a further £80,000 from away games, taking their total earnings from televised games to exactly £1million. With the upcoming games added on, that figure rises to £1,220,000 with the potential of more to come.

Last season Leeds were on the box 18 times (six at home, 12 away) which saw them pocket £760,000.

Every word Marcelo Bielsa said after Leeds United went top on Sheffield United, Hernandez and Clarke

And while Leeds have earned more than any other Championship side from televised games so far this season, it’s small change compared to equivalent earnings from Premier League clubs.

For example, Huddersfield Town - who look a certainty to be relegated from the top flight - are set to earn up to nearly £100million - including television bonuses on top of the basic award. And that’s with them due to finish bottom, with each league place above them being equivalent to about £2million.

Leeds chairman Andrea Radrizzani was a vocal critic of the EFL’s negotiations for a new television deal earlier in the season, with several other Championship figures joining him in voicing their displeasure.
