The fortunes of Leeds winger Raphinha are rising rapidly, with his performances catching the attention of Premier League rivals, but his price may also be part of the attraction.
The 24-year-old Brazilian joined Leeds United in 2020 and has established himself as one of the attacking stars of the Premier League.
His career ramped up further this autumn when he made his debut for his national side, playing in three World Cup qualifiers, scoring a brace and grabbing the headlines.
Brazil’s head coach Tite has also kept him in the squad for the November qualifiers against Colombia and Argentina, and he is also tipped to be part of the World Cup squad in Qatar next year.
All of which will no doubt be driving up Raphinha’s price for any clubs hoping to prise him away from Elland Road, though the Premier League’s richest clubs may still regard him as a bargain.
According to the website Transfermarkt, Raphinha is still priced at a third of Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, the top-priced right-winger in the league, at £90m. Meanwhile he is £16m less than Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic, and only £2m more than West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen.
