Leeds United's Raphinha breaks silence on future amid Liverpool transfer links

Leeds United winger Raphinha says he is “really happy” at the club amid rumoured interest from other sides.

Raphinha has enjoyed a stand-out season for Leeds, contributing five goals and five assists in 21 Premier League appearances so far.

The 24-year-old has adapted well to the demands of manager Marcelo Bielsa since his £17million move from French side Rennes in October.

His performances have caught the eye of other clubs, with Liverpool and Manchester United among those reportedly interested in the Brazilian.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has compared Raphinha to Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane , but the man himself says he is happy where he is for now.

“I am really happy to be here in Leeds, being a part of this institution, it’s a real pleasure,” Raphinha told LUTV .

“I’m really enjoying the city, despite not being able to discover that much of it. I’ve been embraced by all the players, the coaching staff, everybody here at the club, the fans as well.”

Raphinha has been nominated for the Premier League February player of the month award after a string of impressive performances.

Asked by Leeds’ in-house media what he made of reported interest in his services, Raphinha said: “I’m really happy and so satisfied to be a part of this club.

“And when I found out that Leeds were interested in me and they wanted me and the way they accepted me, the way I was embraced, the way I was treated on arrival here means that I am really happy now.

“I am really well settled in the city and at the club. I thank everybody for their affection, that’s contributed to this.”

Raphinha signed a four-year contract upon his arrival at Elland Road in October, so would not come cheap were Liverpool or any other club to make a move for him in the summer.

The winger will have another chance to impress potential suitors when Leeds travel to take on West Ham in the Premier League on Monday evening.
