Leeds United's promotion to the Premier League yesterday was met with joy in Yorkshire and also raised the spirits of the club's many Irish supporters.
Former Leeds full-backs Ian Harte and Gary Kelly took to Twitter to express their delight after Marcelo Bielsa's side secured a long-awaited return to the top flight for the historic club.
Ex-Ireland ace Harte spent eight years at Elland Road, starring in the Premier League and in Europe.
Former Leeds stalwart Kelly played an incredible 531 games for the club between 1992 and 2007.
Harte tweeted: "Omg @LUFC are back in the promised land. Premier League here we go. Congratulations to everyone involved #MOT
Kelly also took to social media to express his delight, saying: "Wow is all I can say.. emotional, Relieved and Proud #Leeds #MOT "
Former Ireland rugby player and Leeds fan Tommy Bowe posted: "16 years! Highs and lots of lows...delighted we are back in the Prem. I’m off for a pint!"
Westlife singer Nicky Byrne, who spent two years at the club in the 1990s, tweeted: "Finally Leeds United are back where they belong! #Premiership Massive congrats to all!!"
Economist and broadcaster David McWilliams even got in on the act with an 'MOT' tweet, referencing the Leeds fans' rallying cry.
Leeds sealed promotion yesterday and were handed the Championship title following Brentford's defeat against Stoke today.
Leeds will now head to Pride Park on Sunday to face Derby - the side who beat them in the play-offs last year - with their first silverware for 28 years already secured and with two games left to play.
