Leeds United's pre-season injury list in full

In just under three weeks, Leeds United will be kicking off against Bristol City at Ashton Gate for the first game of the 2019/2020 season.

Before that there is the not-so-small matter of pre-season friendlies against Manchester United and Western Sydney Wanderers in Australia, before the first-team play a final pre-season friendly in Cagliari the weekend before the season starts.

Leeds have so far won their opening two friendlies, easing past York City 5-0 before a more physical 2-1 victory over Guiseley last week.

There were a couple of notable absentees from those first friendlies plus the trip to Australia, so here is a look at where the club is at with injuries and suspensions.

Injuries

Luke Ayling

Although Ayling was among the players that reported back to Thorp Arch on 24 June, he was missing from the squad that played at either York or Guiseley last week because of a knock he received in training. He wasn't among the 16 players who traveled to Australia at the weekend. The knock isn't thought to be too serious so fingers crossed he's on the coach to Bristol next month.

His absences has opened the door for under-23s right-back Bryce Hosannah to travel Down Under, while Stuart Dallas is set to start at right-back for Bielsa's side against the Red Devils.

Tyler Roberts

Tyler Roberts has been missing from pre-season action after having a minor, routine operation to drain fluid from his knee in late May. He missed out on international duty for Wales during the summer. There has been no time frame given for his return but it is not thought to be long-term.

Gjanni Alioski and Ben White

Alioski and White were both subbed off in the pre-season friendly at Guiseley but there are not believed to be any issues with either players. Alioski missed the end of last season with a torn meniscus but was given a clean bill of health to play for North Macedonia over the summer.

Rob Price's latest update

Rob Price spoke to LUTV last month to give an update on the players who were missing through injury at the end of last seson. He said: "There's quite a few who had niggling injuries at the end of last season who have been continuing programmes and have actually been doing rehab.

"Barry [Douglas], for instance, has only had a few days off all summer where he's been continuing his rehab from his knee injury.

"Barry has been training with the team there this morning, Adam [Forshaw]'s back training fully after the injury that he had. You saw Alioski played for Macedonia in the summer.

"All the ones who were injured at the end of the season have made decent progress over the summer.

"Leif Davis had some knee surgery, he's been fully fit over the summer and we're just catching up with a couple of other ones that we had from the end of the season who had some ongoing issues that we just need to keep on top of."

Leeds United visit Bristol City in their opening game of the 2019/20 Championship season on Sunday August 4 at 16:30 live on Sky Sports.

Suspensions

Gaetano Berardi

Gaetano Berardi was shown his first red card of the season during the play-off semi final second leg defeat to Derby County so will be suspended for the first game of the season at Ashton Gate. Bristol City will also be missing Antoine Semenyo through suspension.
