Leeds United's Kiko Casilla to miss Cardiff City and Swansea City ties after being hit with eight-game ban for racist abuse

Leeds United goalkeeper Kiko Casilla is to miss clashes against Cardiff City and Swansea City after being hit with an eight-game ban for racially abusing Charlton Athletic forward Jonathan Leko.

The stopper was also fined £60,000 after being found guilty of the offence.

The Spaniard denied the charge and now has now been ordered to attend a face-to-face education session.

The former Spain international denied "using abusive and/or insulting words", with the charge also extending to an aggravated breach of making "reference to race and/or colour and/or ethnic origin" towards Leko.

Leeds released a statement responding to the suspension, saying the club "do not tolerate any form of discrimination" adding it is "important to recognise" that Casilla "has always denied making any racist comment".

The eight games that Casilla will miss are: Hull City (away), Huddersfield (home), Cardiff (away), Fulham (home), Luton (home), Blackburn (away), Stoke City (home), Swansea (away).

The incident occurred in the match against the Addicks in September, and will be seen as a big blow for Leeds' promotion hopes.

Marcelo Bielsa's side sit second in the Championship table.
