Leeds United's Julian Draxler prospects handed boost after Germany boss Joachim Low's comments

Leeds United were linked with an audacious move for Julian Draxler earlier this week.

The German attacking midfielder is set to struggle for first-team football at PSG this season, with the French champions keen to sell him in order to free up their budget for other targets.

Yet RMC, via Get Football News France, report that the 26-year-old has little interest in leaving Paris this summer ahead of his contract expiring next year.

It meant the Whites were reportedly met with a less than positive response when approaching Draxler over a potential move to Elland Road.

Arsenal have also been linked with the former Schalke and Wolfsburg star, with PSG sporting director Leonardo reportedly telling Draxler his first-team football will be limited this season.

If the Whites are keen on the attacker, then their hopes may well be boosted by comments from German boss Joachim Low last week.

Draxler featured in both of Germany's Nations League games last weekend as they drew against both Spain and Switzerland.

Speaking over the weekend, Low revealed that he had discussed Draxler's future with the player.

The Germany boss also said that the chances of Draxler getting into the Euro 2021 squad are slim if he does not play regularly.

"I have had a long conversation with him and we discussed ideas," Low said.

"For Julian, it is naturally important to go to the next level at this age. If he played regularly, that would probably help him to be more impactful.

"The question to ask is will PSG let him go or not.

"When he was called upon, he had very good moments and can always play at this level but it’s important for Julian to be on the pitch week after week."
