Here is your Leeds United morning digest for Thursday, October 29.
Leeds unlikely to make new signings in January
Leeds United are expected to be quiet in the January transfer window after significant investment in Marcelo Bielsa’s squad this summer.
The likes of Rodrigo, Robin Koch and Raphinha were brought in for the Whites’ return to the Premier League.
But only an injury crisis is likely to force Leeds’ hand when the transfer window opens again in a couple of months.
The current squad has been built with the long-term future in mind, and recent failures in the January window - especially the signing of Jean-Kevin Augustin - will be on the minds of everyone at the club .
Poveda backed to become a first-team regular
Former Leeds forward Noel Whelan has backed Ian Poveda to establish himself as a regular starter in Marcelo Bielsa’s side this season.
The 20-year-old winger has impressed as a substitute in recent weeks, but is yet to start a Premier League game.
Whelan, though, is an admirer of the youngster, who joined Leeds from Manchester City in January.
“He’s growing into what we thought we were buying,” Whelan told Football Insider .
“Last year we didn’t see hardly anything of him. This year now he’s had more time to work with the manager, the staff, and the players around him.
“You can see now when you talk about people changing games and bringing a different dimension, he’s very, very quick, got great feet, very tricky, likes to run at players. Very much like Raphinha as well.
“He just looks a lot stronger this season, body-wise, mentality wise. He looks like he’s there to push people rather than just take up a bench place.”
Leeds loanee ‘proud’ of teammates after start to Premier League season
Kun Temenuzhkov has admitted he is “very happy” for his Leeds teammates despite his loan move to Spanish third-tier side Real Union.
The 20-year-old was signed in 2017 having emerged as one of the brightest young talents in Europe.
He is yet to make his breakthrough at Elland Road, but got off to a good start with Real Union, scoring in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Leioa.
“The truth is that I am very happy for the rise of Leeds, I am proud to see many teammates achieve their goals and dreams, which is to play in the best league in the world, which in my opinion is the Premier League,” Temenuzhkov told Gols Media .
“I see them every weekend, and they are starting the league very well.”
