Leeds United's injury and suspension list in full as Marcelo Bielsa's left-back options dwindle

The season is almost over for Leeds United – but alas, their near omnipresent queue for the recovery table still has a few familiar faces in it.

Marcelo Bielsa has found himself blighted by injuries for much of his first campaign in charge, with the luxury of a fully-fit squad only presenting itself to the Argentine on rare occasions.

However, with only a handful of games left across the current campaign, United will be hopeful that a few of the men lined up at the Thorp Arch treatment room can feature in an imminent play-off campaign after missing out on automatic promotion.

For some however, their year is over, with no further part to play as the Whites chase the promised land of the Premier League.

We take a current look at the shape of the squad here.

Kemar Roofe

The club’s top scorer sat out the draw with Aston Villa on Sunday with a hip injury but mercifully look only set for a short lay-off.

Bielsa confirmed that the one-time Oxford United man will feature in across the remaining games of the season, all being well.

"Hopefully he will be back for the Ipswich game,” he told reporters.

Barry Douglas

The Scotland international ruptured his knee ligaments at the beginning of April against Millwall, ruling him out for the rest of the season.

With 27 appearances this campaign, the former Wolves man has been blighted by injury elsewhere throughout the season and had only featured sporadically since January.

Ezgjan Alioski

The winger was forced off inside the first quarter of the Easter Monday defeat to Brentford and was later revealed to have suffered a torn meniscus.

The injury spells the end of the Macedonian’s season for the club, in a cruel blow that will see him sit out the promotion campaign.

He had surgery following the diagnosis and an injury of this nature will typically sideline a player for six-to-eight weeks.

Stuart Dallas

The Northern Ireland international handed the Whites a boost by starting against Villa on Sunday but was hooked at half-time, to be replaced by Gaetano Berardi.

Bielsa has since confirmed that Dallas was pulled due to a knee injury and that his current timeframe for a return is up in the air.

Dallas will hope to be back in time for the play-offs at the very least.

Leif Davis

The 19-year-old confirmed that he would play no further part in this season after he posted an image on social media confirming that he had undergone a knee operation.

The teenager had been one possible candidate to replace Alioski throughout the final weeks of the campaign, but his absence means Bielsa is currently without four players who can operate at left-back. Clarke Oduor, who has played left-back for the under-23s this season also limped off in the semi-final play-off against Coventry City.

Izzy Brown

The Chelsea loanee was handed a place leading the line for the under-23s on Monday evening, but was forced off before the hour mark after appearing to get a kick to his ankle.

There has been no word yet on the severity of his injury.

Suspensions

Leeds have no suspensions for their final trip of the regular season to Ipswich – for now.

However, striker Patrick Bamford could yet be handed a ban following an incident in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Aston Villa.

There are suggestions that the forward appeared to simulate an alleged elbow from Ahmed El Ghazi, which saw the latter sent off.

The Villains have indicated they will appeal the decision and a retroactive punishment could yet be handed down to the former Middlesbrough man in what would be a big blow for the club.
