Leeds United's head coach recruitment problems laid out with timeline and Andrea Radrizzani factors

Speed is of the essence in Leeds United’s head coach search and if there any doubts in the boardroom about that fact, the owner’s Twitter account is keeping everyone in check. Chief executive Angus Kinnear has addressed the hot topic at Elland Road in his latest programme notes.

The Whites supremo has insisted the search for Jesse Marsch’s replacement is a long way down the road, but aligning their targets around the challenges of appointing in mid-season has proven the principal stumbling block. Kinnear said their shortlist, which has included Andoni Iraola and Arne Slot, before he ruled himself out, has been crafted across several years.

“The search for a new head coach is well advanced,” he said. “The task is being able to align our list of prospects, which has been built and evolved over many seasons, with current availability and the openness of candidates to accept a new role in mid-season.

“While we have confidence in the caretaker team, we know the importance of a prompt appointment and, if Victor [Orta] and I are in any doubt, we have Andrea’s Twitter account to keep the pressure on.”

Radrizzani has been open in discussing the search with supporters on the social network, even suggesting to one fan there might be confirmation on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. Sunday now looks like it will pass without any news.
