Leeds United's FA Cup chances rated ahead of Crawley tie as bookies bet against Wembley appearance

Leeds United enter the FA Cup this weekend when they face League Two Crawley Town on Sunday.

The Whites make the trip to the in-form Reds, whose manager John Yems has jokingly expressed his desire for revenge after missing out on a job at Elland Road in 2018.

With a gap of three divisions between the two sides, there is no doubt that Leeds are favourites for the game, even with Marcelo Bielsa's penchant for fielding a rotated side in the competition.

Yet how far are the Whites predicted to go in the FA Cup as a whole?

According to betting aggregator site Oddschecker, Leeds are 11th-favourite for the competition.

The shortest odds on Leeds winning the tournament are 25/1, with the longest odds at 33/1.

This probably represents the unpredictable nature of both cup football and Leeds' current form.

The Whites would no doubt feel confident of beating most teams they play but, as recent defeats against Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have shown, the clubs battling at the top of the Premier League pose a tougher ask for Bielsa's side.

With there being no guarantee over who Leeds will face in the competition should they overcome Crawley, it likely explains their relatively long odds to lift the cup.

Man CIty are 7/2 favourites to win the FA Cup, with Liverpool and Spurs also heavily tipped.

Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Leicester City, Everton, Southampton and Wolves are all also given better odds than Leeds.

That is likely based on most of those clubs being either part of the Premier League big six or in good form.

In terms of Sunday's game, the Whites are heavy 3/8 favourites, with a draw given odds of 9/2 and Crawley's chances rated at 17/2.

Spurs are given the shortest odds of reaching the fourth round of the competition as they face eighth-tier Marine in what has been billed as the competition's greatest ever mismatch.

The gap between the Northern Premier League Division One North West side and Spurs is the largest between two teams in competition history.
