Leeds United's evening headlines as Leeds United striker weighs in on Millwall booing debate

Here are the Leeds United evening headlines on Sunday 6th December.

Giroud praises Leeds intensity

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has revealed his surprise at facing a "tough" side in Leeds United last night.

The Frenchman scored Chelsea's first goal but came up against a strong defensive partnership in Liam Cooper and Diego Llorente at the back.

Giroud scored his fifth goal of the week against Leeds, after netting four times against Sevilla in the midweek Champions League fixture. Despite this, the 34-year-old admitted it was not an easy contest.

"They [Leeds] were one of the best teams I have faced since a few months.

"Physically they run everywhere. It was so hard," he added.

Cooper gives debrief on Chelsea defeat

Leeds United captain Liam Cooper has revealed the lessons learned in the 3-1 loss at Stamford Bridge.

"We're learning every single week. They are world-class players. We are learning on the job," the defender insisted following defeat.

He admitted they were perhaps not at the same level in the second half as they would have liked, but that it was an occupational hazard of playing against one of the best sides with world-class players.

“We are an honest team. We will run and run and go to the last second. Sometimes teams have that extra bit of quality. We know we need to be better and we will be.”

Cooper partnered Diego Llorente at the heart of Leeds' defence for the first time after Robin Koch was hauled off with an injury in the opening stages of the game. It is as yet unclear whether the duo will reprise their role against West Ham United this coming Friday.

Tyler Roberts speaks out on Championship incident

Leeds United forward Tyler Roberts has weighed in on the issue of Millwall's supporters booing their own players for taking a knee prior to their game against Derby County.

The supporters - back at The Den for the first time in nine months - opted to boo the gesture showing support for Black Lives Matter, much to the dismay of Roberts.

The Welshman described the incident as "shameful" in a post on his Instagram account, calling out the Championship club's support.

Roberts was instrumental in Leeds' comeback against the Lions in a 3-2 win for the Whites over a year ago.
