Leeds United's corner in European football being fought by Gary Neville

Gary Neville namechecks Leeds United in latest European Super League tirade

Gary Neville believes the botched European Super League proposals were an 'attack' on Leeds United and other Premier League clubs after labelling the breakaway as 'the attempted murder of English football'.

The so-called big six's plans to join a league with Spanish and Italian clubs fell through last week just 48 hours after it had been first announced.

Neville appeared on numerous programmes for Sky Sports to make vehemently clear his opposition to the plans, with his former club Manchester United included in the sextet of English clubs who hoped to join the 12-team league.

It would be Leeds' first season in European competition since the 2002/03 campaign when they reached the third round of the old UEFA Cup should they qualify and Manchester City's 1-0 win over Tottenham in the Carabao Cup final has increased their chances.
