Leeds United's Championship promotion rivals' injury and suspension woes

It's that time of season when injuries and suspensions take their toll as Leeds United face up to the next three fixtures without key midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

But it's not just Leeds that have been hit by these issues, other teams currently in the top six of the Championship are facing injury of suspension worries of their own.

We take a look at the five teams and their current suspension and injury lists...

West Brom

Sitting just one point ahead of Leeds United at the top of the Championship, West Brom have been rocked by injuries in suspensions recently.

Star player Matheus Pereira was handed a three-match suspension for violent conduct following an elbow on Stoke City's Joe Allen. He missed West Brom's cup tie against West Ham and is also set to miss out on Championship clashes with Cardiff City and Luton Town. The Baggies will also be without Semi Ajayi for the Cardiff game following his red card at West Ham.

Winger Grady Diangana will also be missing. He has been ruled out for several weeks with a hamstring injury.

Fulham

Like West Brom, Fulham had one of their players sent off during a fourth round FA Cup tie. During their 4-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City, USA international defender Tim Ream was sent off after just six minutes. He will miss Fulham's upcoming match against Huddersfield Town.

Fulham are also without star player Aleksander Mitrovic who is sidelined with an ankle ligament injury but is expected back in February. Frenchman Maxime Le Marchand is a long-term casualty for the club who has been out with a back injury since November.

Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest have a clean bill of health when it comes to both suspensions and injuries except long-term absentee Tendayi Darikwa who is out with an anterior cruciate ligament injury which will keep him out for the season.

Brentford

Brentford are now out of the FA Cup following defeat to Premier League high flyers Leicester City. Manager Thomas Frank has no new injury or suspension problems to worry about although his is managing a few long-term injuries. Sergi Canos remains out with a knee injury which required surgery and Nikos Karelis remains sidelined following an injury sustained on his debut after signing for Brentford in the summer.

Preston North End

With absentee Daniel Johnson now back in action for Preston - and back on the scoresheet - Alex Neill's injury crisis could be nearing its end.

The Lilywhites are without young midfielder Tom Bayliss who is out with an ankle injury. Neil says he will be out for weeks rather than days. Also missing are left back Andrew Hughes and winger Billy Bodin.
