Leeds United's best and worst-case scenario from crucial midweek Premier League fixtures

Leeds United will be looking to get back to winning ways when they host Crystal Palace at Elland Road on Tuesday night.

It is the first of two huge home games in quick succession for the Whites, who will then face Brentford on Sunday.

Leeds currently sit 17th in the Premier League and will be eager to establish some breathing space between themselves and the bottom three ahead of a daunting December run of fixtures.

Three points against the Eagles could move Marcelo Bielsa’s side as high as 14th, if results elsewhere across the midweek period go their way.

They can move above Watford, Southampton and Everton should they secure a win, with all three of those sides facing difficult looking fixtures.

Watford are set to host table-topping Chelsea at Vicarage Road and given the Blues’ unbeaten record on the road so far this season, the Hornets will need to be at their very best to come away with anything.

Meanwhile, Southampton will also face a difficult looking home fixture, as they face Leicester City at St. Mary’s.

The Saints have lost both of their last two matches and will face a Foxes side who appear to be getting their confidence back after two impressive victories over Legia Warsaw and Watford in recent days.

And the final side that Leeds can move above, Everton, will be taking part in their first Merseyside derby under Rafael Benitez.

An injury-ravaged Everton have not won in their last seven matches and a clash with their in form biggest rivals is perhaps a fixture they could do without.

However, while Leeds do have the opportunity to climb as high as 14th, they could also drop into the bottom three.

If Burnley are victorious over Wolves, and the Whites are defeated by Palace then they will move into 18th place, a psychological blow they could certainly do without ahead of trips to Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool in December.
