Leeds United's Andrea Radrizzani breaks silence on proposed European Super League plans

Leeds United's majority shareholder Andrea Radrizzani has tweeted in response to an Italian football journalist, setting out his stance on the Premier League's 'Big Six' breaking away to join 'The Super League'.

Radrizzani has spoken previously on the prospect of a Super League and on preserving the sanctity of domestic competition, but with last night's developments and simultaneous statements from the 12 founding clubs, has taken to Twitter to vent his frustration.

"Absolutely against the sporting spirit, the dream of millions of fans to conquer the championships on the field, with planning, vision, work. Kill dreams of club, players and fans. The teams are fans and WE are the keepers of the club," the Italian said in a strongly-worded statement.

Leeds United are yet to comment on the latest news which could affect the integrity of this Premier League season.

The club's official account did tweet a video of Leeds United in the Premier League this campaign with the caption, "All Leeds Aren't We!".

This followed Radrizzani's more muted response to Gary Neville's Sky Sports rant yesterday evening, prior to the Super League press release which confirmed plans were in motion.

The twelve 'founding clubs' as they are referred to in Super League documentation are: Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Leeds United's Supporters Trust issued a statement earlier this morning which read: "After a conversation with the club this morning we will be issuing a statement shortly. If any fans are planning on a protesting this evening, we’d encourage you to do so, but please adhere to social distancing guidelines. #SayNoToSuperLeague."

This follows numerous supporters' groups, including those from Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Liverpool's famed Spirit of Shankly group, condemning the move as 'unforgivable' and 'embarrassing.'
