Leeds United's Adam Forshaw hailed as 'a brand new player' as claim made over returning stars

Former Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford described Adam Forshaw as ‘brilliant’ and said getting the midfielder back in the team is like having ‘a brand new player’.

Forshaw has recently returned to the Leeds United first team after playing only a handful of games in the 2019/20 season and missing the whole of last season due to injury.

This season the 30-year-old came off the bench twice in the Premier League, started in the 1-1 draw with Leicester City, and was picked to start again by Marcelo Bielsa to start against Brighton & Hove Albion today.

Speaking before the Brighton match on Sky Sports, former Leeds striker Beckford said of Adam Forshaw: “He’s been like a brand new player.

“So much energy, so much hunger. But I like that when Adam came in it was like there was nothing to worry about, nothing was missing.

“His passing ability, his movement, he breaks up play really well, he links up the game really well.

“Brilliant, brilliant football player.”

Jamie Redknapp also reflected on the fact that Leeds are finally getting into their stride after suffering from terrible injuries over the past few months.

Speaking in the Sky Sports studio prior to Leeds' goalless draw with Brighton, Redknapp said: “To see Leeds back in the Prem is also great.

“They have a lot of energy. They have got to make sure this year that they capitalise.

“When they get their players back from injury I’m sure they’ll be fine. They have too many good players in this team.”
