Leeds United rumours: Whites in race for Brazilian wonderkid as Aston Villa concede Kalvin Phillips defeat

Here are the latest Leeds United transfer rumours on Thursday, 2 June 2022.

Race for Brazilian

Leeds United are reportedly in the race with Benfica to sign Santos wonderkid Renyer, according to Portuguese outlet Record. They state that while Benfica are currently at the front of the queue, Leeds – along with a number of other Premier League clubs – are keen on the 18-year-old.

Renyer has already featured for Santos’ first team on seven occasions, but it is with the Under-20s side where he has really stood out. He has netted six goals in three appearances already this season, but does have a contract until 2025.

Villa’s Phillips interest

Aston Villa are reportedly set to concede defeat in their pursuit of Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips, according to the Athletic. Villa are long-term admirers of Phillips and were keen on doing a deal this summer, but that is now looking increasingly unlikely.

Phillips has also been linked with a move to Manchester City as Pep Guardiola looks to sign a replacement for club legend Fernandinho. The 26-year-old has previously made it clear he would like to stay at Leeds, though, with two years still left to run on his contract.

Traore rumours

Leeds United are still reportedly interested in Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore, according to 90min.com. Traore is set to leave Molinuex this summer with Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United also said to be interested.

The 26-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Barcelona, but the Spanish side opted against triggering the £30 million buy option in the deal. Spurs had previously come close to signing him in January prior to his temporary switch to the Camp Nou.
