Leeds United rumours: Todd Cantwell's agent pushing move, Jean-Kevin Augustin battle continues

Leeds United have a further nine days to make additions to their squad.

Monday's transfer deadline day for overseas players has cut the pool of potential signings down for the Whites but they are still able to trade with EFL clubs.

With that in mind, here are the latest Leeds transfer rumours.

Cantwell's agent pushing move

Speaking to Football Insider, Noel Whelan has claimed that Todd Cantwell's agent is pushing a move to Leeds United.

The Norwich City attacker has been strongly linked with Elland Road, with the Whites still able to make signings from EFL clubs until the end of the domestic deadline.

Whelan says he has heard that Cantwell's agent has been talking up Leeds' interest.

Beren Cross' Leeds United transfer deadline day reaction

He said: "From what I have heard, was it Cantwell’s agent that was pushing that one? That is what I’ve been hearing on the grapevine.

"Leeds might be interested in him, but they weren’t desperate for him.

"It’s more his agent pushing that one.

"If he did come to Leeds we’d be getting a very good young player and we know Marcelo Bielsa likes that. But it obviously wasn’t his first port of call. There were other irons in the fire that he was looking at."

Augustin legal battle

The Athletic's Phil Hay says the legal battle between Leeds United and RB Leipzig over Jean-Kevin Augustin is not over.

Augustin has signed for Nantes following his loan spell at Leeds last season, which ended before the campaign restarted following the coronavirus suspension.

The Whites have argued this nullified their obligation to buy Augustin from Leipzig if they won promotion, which angered the German club.

Quarta's agent explains move

Lucas Martinez Quarta, who was linked with a move to Leeds United in the summer window, joined Fiorentina on deadline day.

His agent, Gustavo Goni, admitted that they turned down Premier League interest in order to move to Fiorentina.

He told FirenzeViola: "We are really happy. Fiorentina wanted him so much.

"So much determination and the expression of interest from a club so full of history can only fill us with pride.

“Celta Vigo, Villarreal, Real Betis, Premier League clubs and others in Serie A tried, but Fiorentina in Argentina are very much respected and loved. Everyone knows them due to Batistuta.

"It was impossible to say no."
