Leeds United transfer rumours as new club enters midfielder race and Milner's contract talks

Here are the latest Leeds United transfer rumours on Monday, 14 February 2022.

O’Brien race

Championship promotion hopefuls AFC Bournemouth have joined the race to sign Huddersfield Town midfielder Lewis O’Brien.

That is according to the Sun, who claim that the Cherries could bid for O’Brien in the summer if they win promotion to the Premier League.

Leeds United are among the clubs who have been heavily linked with O’Brien in recent months, with extensive talks over a deal taking place last summer.

The 23-year-old penned a new deal at Town in September following the failure to agree a deal and given Leeds’ reluctance to go back in for him in January, it remains to be seen whether he is still a target.

Milner contract

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed James Milner has held talks with the club over extending his deal.

Milner is out of contract at Anfield in the summer and at 36, has seen his minutes reduced over the course of this season.

Ever since his departure from boyhood club Leeds United in 2004, he has been tenuously linked with ending his career at Elland Road, however that is appearing unlikely.

Klopp said: "I am in talks, the club is in talks with Milly.

"There is no chance Milly will retire next year so he is desperate to play on."
