Leeds United rumours as Mark Robins makes clear stance on future of Whites-linked striker

Here are the latest Leeds United transfer rumours on Saturday, 31 December 2022.

Coventry's Gyokeres stance

Coventry City manager Mark Robins has stated there is no chance Viktor Gyokeres will be leaving in the January transfer window. Gyokeres has been linked to a host of Premier League clubs ahead of the opening of the transfer window with Leeds United among them.

Gyokeres is the joint top scorer in the Championship this season with 12 goals, building on his impressive tally of 17 last term. Speaking after Coventry's 0-0 draw with Cardiff City on Thursday, Robins insisted Gyokeres 'is going nowhere' as they would not be able to find a replacement that is 'better'.

"Viktor is going nowhere,” said Robins, via Coventry Live. "I can tell you now he is going nowhere in January. Absolutely no chance. I’ve spoken to Vik.

“I spoke to Callum, bless him, prior to his injury and said you are not going anywhere. There’s not a chance of them going anywhere in January.

“It would be absolutely ridiculous and I’m adamant that is happening. The only way people can go is if you have got people lined up, replacements lined up that are better. It’s not going to happen.”

Aina race

West Ham are reportedly set to reignite their interest in Torino full back Ola Aina in January. That is according to PUNCH Sports Extra, who claim the Hammers failed with a summer move for the 26-year-old but will face competition from Leeds United and Crystal Palace.

Aina is out of contract at Torino in the summer and has been linked with a move to the Whites for around 12 months. The Nigeria international can play both at left and right back and has had previous spells in the Premier League at Chelsea, Hull City and Fulham.

Wober medical

Red Bull Salzburg defender Maximilian Wober has already reportedly undergone a medical at Leeds United. That is according to Salzburger Nachrichten, who claim that Wober was in England on Thursday to complete the tests ahead of an early January move to Elland Road.

Wober was first reported to be a target by Fabrizio Romano on Tuesday earlier this week, as he claimed discussions were set to begin over a potential €14 million move. An early deal would be a real statement of intent for Leeds, who have been slack in January windows gone by.
