Leeds United rivalling Derby County for signing of Tottenham Hotspur youngster

Leeds United are said to be among a number of clubs showing an interest in Tottenham Hotspur youngster Tashan Oakley-Boothe, alongside the likes of Derby County.

According to the Mail Online , new Swansea City boss Steve Cooper is keen on signing the 19-year-old who he managed during his time as England under-17s manager.

The report adds that Leeds , Derby, Huddersfield Town, Stoke City and Reading are all 'monitoring' the teenage midfielder, although Swansea are said to be front of the queue for a player who has just one year left on his contract.

Oakley-Boothe has made one first-team appearance for Mauricio Pochettino's side, appearing as a substitute in the Carabao Cup win over Barnsley back in September 2017.

Predominantly a central midfielder, Oakley-Boothe is also capable of working as a defensive midfielder and Leeds could look to utilise their relationship with Tottenham to complete a deal.

The two teams have already completed business with one another this summer, with Spurs signing Jack Clarke from Marcelo Bielsa's side before allowing him to return to Elland Road on loan.

Any deal for Oakley-Boothe would likely be a loan for the upcoming season but, given his contract situation, it may open the door for a permanent switch next year.
