Leeds United remove picture of Osama Bin Laden from among cardboard cut-out crowd

Leeds United have removed an image of Osama Bin Laden from among their cardboard cut-out crowd at Elland Road.

With matches being held behind closed doors, Leeds have joined numerous clubs around the world in inviting fans to send in photos of themselves to take their place in the stands at a cost of £25.

An image on social media showed that a picture of the former al-Qaeda leader, who was killed in 2011, had been printed among pictures of regular supporters.

The club said it would “ensure there are no more offensive images” among its planned 15,000 ‘Crowdies’.

Leeds take on Fulham in their first home game since the Championship’s resumption on Saturday, it what is a huge game in the race for promotion to the top-flight.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side were top of the league during lockdown, but have slipped to second on goal difference after losing 2-0 to Cardiff last weekend, and third-placed Fulham could move within four points with a win.
