Leeds United ready their defences as Manchester United 'step up' transfer interest in Raphinha

Here is your Leeds United digest for Sunday, March 7.

Man Utd 'step up' Raphinha chase

Manchester United are set to 'step up' their pursuit in Leeds star Raphinha, reports claim.

According to an article from Brazilian outlet UOL, Manchester United have made an enquiry about a potential deal to sign the winger.

The report adds that Raphinha's agent, former Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder Deco, is set to have a meeting with director of football Victor Orta in March about the player's future.

Raphinha has made an excellent start to life at Elland Road, netting five goals and providing five assists in the Premier League so far this season.

Leeds handed Raphinha boost as CONMEBOL make fixtures decision

The CONMEBOL council has confirmed that the upcoming World Cup qualifiers in South America have been postponed.

Several Premier League clubs had already decided not to release their players at the end of March due to current self-isolation rules in the UK - and now Raphinha will not have to leave Leeds United temporarily later this month.

In the UK, anyone returning from coronavirus 'red list' countries, which includes Portugal, all of South America and parts of Africa, is required to quarantine for 10 days, without exception.

As a result, Leeds could have been without Brazilian Raphinha for any matches scheduled directly after the international break, which runs from March 22 to April 1.

Llorente explains how Leeds Amazon documentary made him feel

Diego Llorente has explained how he got a feel for Leeds United and the club’s fans during the pandemic.

Llorente joined Leeds from Real Sociedad for £18million on a four-year contract in September, but has made just four appearances for the club so far.

The Spanish defender has been dogged by injuries since his move, which meant he was forced to wait until December to make his debut in Leeds’ 3-1 defeat by Chelsea.

However, another muscle injury then ruled him out until January 26 and he has only just shaken off the niggling problems recently, playing 90 minutes against Southampton and Aston Villa.
