Leeds United ready for three matches-a-week to see the season out

Leeds United players will be ready to play three-matches-a-week to get the Championship season done in one month if necessary.

That’s the view of former Newcastle United and England midfielder Rob Lee, who does not believe it’s fair on the Whites if the campaign ended now.

Speaking to The Journal newspaper, Lee saw no problems for anyone in the game getting the rest of 2019/20 campaign done that intensely to see a conclusion.

“The players I speak to are missing football so I can't see anybody complaining about playing two or three games in a week,” he said.

"I wouldn't want managers moaning. Two or three games a week? So what - you have big squads and you could get it done in a month.

"In my era we'd play two or three a week to squeeze them in. I remember playing in the reserves once at Charlton and we played Crystal Palace.

"We had to do a double-header in the same day. We played 90 minutes, stopped then changed kit and played another 90 minutes. It was on the same day.

"When we get football back people will be tired but people will want it done and dusted. In my opinion, we have to finish it. You can't end it now.

"Not just for Liverpool, what about West Brom and Leeds - and Fulham have a good chance of going up too."
