Leeds United pundit wants Bournemouth star man despite Aston Villa transfer reports

Former Leeds United forward Noel Whelan would love to see Tyrone Mings playing for the Whites next season.

Mings spent last season on loan at Aston Villa from Bournemouth, helping Dean Smith's side secure Premier League promotion via the Championship play-offs.

The 26-year-old played 18 times, scoring twice for Villa, and Whelan, who made 48 appearances, scoring seven times in a two-year spell at Elland Road, was left more than impressed with the impact the centre-back had on the Lions.

"Tyrone Mings has been at a Premier League club for a while now and just not really given the opportunity,” Whelan told Football Insider.

"We saw last season, playing for Aston Villa, what a difference he made.

"He was that missing piece as far as I’m concerned – they were scoring goals but leaking too many. Since he came in there was a different attitude and a different steeliness about that Aston Villa back four.

“He’s a leader, he’s dangerous in attacking situations, very aggressive in defence – I’d love to have him at Leeds United.”
