Leeds United plotting move to land French star in the making - reports

Leeds United are looking to complete a deal to sign French youth international defender Enzo Valentim, an 18-year-old seen as a star in the making in his homeland.

The right-back has emerged on Leeds' radar after impressive performances for his club side, Reims II, as well as with France's youth international sides, Football Insider reports.

A relatively unknown prodigy, the teenager currently plies his trade in the fourth tier of French football after coming through the youth ranks at Tours before joining Reims last summer.

Serving as the second side for Ligue 1 outfit Stade Reims, who remarkably finished in eighth place last season - their first campaign back in the top-flight in two years.

A France Under-19 international, Valentim has emerged as a target for Leeds as they look to bolster their youth ranks before the transfer window shuts in just three weeks time.

Marcelo Bielsa's side could persuade the youngster to move across the English channel after showing evidence of handing a clear pathway into the senior squad from the youth teams.

Should he sign, Valentim will look to follow in the footsteps of Jack Clarke and Jamie Shackleton after their rise to prominence recently.
