Leeds United player valuations revealed as Victor Orta transfer strategy is justified

The value of Leeds United's squad has more than doubled over the course of the summer transfer window.

The Whites' long-awaited return to the top tier has been followed by an impressive transfer window which has seen the arrival of a number of new players.

Rodrigo, Diego Llorente, Raphinha, Helder Costa, Robin Koch, Illan Mesler and Joe Gelhhardt were all signed on permanent deals, Leeds racking up a spending total of almost £100million.

Given Leeds' very respectable start, it seems Victor Orta and Marcelo Bielsa have indeed managed to strengthen the squad from last season's stunning Championship title-winning campaign.

And it's a similar story on the business side of things. According to Transfermarkt, Leeds have managed to more than double the value of their squad during the window.

In fact, the value of their current group of players has risen by a whopping 182.5%, the biggest increase of any Premier League side by some way.

West Brom's increase of 80.9% is the next highest, just above fellow promoted club Fulham, the Cottagers' squad value increasing by 79.7%.

But it's not all about the business side of things and Bielsa will need to prove the money spent is worth it as he attempts to keep Leeds in the league and perhaps much more.

Some of the other clubs to spend big in recent years have struggled with Aston Villa staying up by a point last year despite spending more than £100million, while Fulham were relegated the season before after spending a similar figure.

So there is a level of pressure on Bielsa and his team. But with seven points from their first four games, things are already looking good for the Whites in their first season back in the big time.
