Leeds United player ratings as Pablo Hernandez steals the show in Sydney

Leeds United (4-1-4-1)

13 Kiko Casilla - six

Not a great deal to do between the sticks for the Spaniard who was beaten to a through-ball by Kwame Yeboah for Western Sydney Wanderers' equaliser. Distribution was sound when called upon to use his feet.

15 Stuart Dallas - seven

Showed plenty of attacking intent down the right flank and may have ended up with at least a goal and an assist on another night. Made on memorably decisive challenge in the second half when Sydney stretched United with one of their incisive counter-attacks on the night.

28 Gaetano Berardi - six

Steady in the middle of the park and enjoyed the physical battle with Mitchell Duke much more than the foot race with Marcus Rashford on Wednesday night. Another who needed to make a challenge which stuck when the team was under pressure in the second period.

6 Liam Cooper © - six

Much like Berardi, but arguably had a quieter night. The Whites were, like Wednesday, cut open far too easily on the break, but this does not seem like something the central defenders can be blamed for. The moves need to be stopped higher up the pitch.

3 Barry Douglas - six

Naturally, the Scot had more space and time to attack than on Wednesday. Visibly unhappy with some of his deliveries into Patrick Bamford, but one pinpoint cross should have been buried in the first period. Caught out more than once by Sydney's right winger Bruce Kamau, who seemed to be the source of all the home danger in the first 45.

23 Kalvin Phillips - seven

The son of Wortley and breaker of attacks was doing the usual on the night. Not perfect, given it was his man who created the Sydney equaliser, but a good 80 per cent of his challenges were won and broke down attacks in a single move.

19 Pablo Hernandez - eight

Does what Hernandez does. Pulls strings, tries to make things happen, sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. Fluffed his lines more than once with decent opportunities on the edge of the box. Looked good with the ball at his feet though, dribbling through challenges tonight. Kept probing until the bitter end and was the best player on the pitch in the final 10 minutes. Deserved his excellent winner.

7 Kemar Roofe - five

Flitted between central midfield and attack, but saw little of significance in either role. Limped off with a worrying problem before the hour was up.

58 Mateusz Bogusz - seven

Faded in the second half before he eventually limped off, but the first half was all his. Took his goal magnificently and veered on running the match at times, at just 17-years-old. Great positioning and reading of the match.

22 Jack Harrison - six

Could have been higher if he had squared a gilt-edged opportunity to Bamford in the first half. May be a slightly harsh, but while his movement and pace was there, he got himself into great positions, but the product was not always there.

9 Patrick Bamford - six

Almost felt sorry for him when the goalkeeper made the save of his life to stop him from one yard out. Had a hatful of chances and half-chances, but nothing went in for him. Trying too hard at times. The goals will surely flow soon.

Substitutes

51 Kamil Miazek

48 Jordan Stevens (on for Roofe 53min) - six

Very lively and, as he always does, proved a difficult opponent for the opposition down his side of the pitch.

52 Bryce Hosannah

54 Clarke Oduor (on for Bogusz 82min) - N/A
