Leeds United player ratings as latest Kiko Casilla error mars improved display

Leeds United (4-1-4-1)

13 Kiko Casilla - four

Bailed out by his team-mates after another costly error which made this much harder work than it should have been with how well the Whites played. Serious questions of his place in the team before tonight and they were only added to at Griffin Park. How many more points will Marcelo Bielsa see slip away before he acts? Casilla's confidence is shattred.

2 Luke Ayling - six

A good night in the main for many of United's players. The right-back did lots right and largely kept Said Benrahma quiet. Of those who did commit a few errors and misplace passes, Ayling was one.

5 Ben White - seven

Negotiated a nervy opening period and settled into the match. Passing not always hitting its mark, but White was steady. Ollie Watkins, the joint-leading scorer in the league, was quiet.

6 Liam Cooper © - seven

Another who did have their nervy moments, but came through them and kept Watkins so quiet. Kept his composure and helped with the response to Casilla's error.

15 Stuart Dallas - seven

Plenty of United's best play, especially in the first half, was down the left flank where Dallas and Jack Harrison were seeing loads of joy. Dallas's work rate was plain to see yet again. Always looks so much more effective playing down the flanks.

23 Kalvin Phillips - eight

How he has been missed since that red card down the road at Loftus Road. Crunched everything the hosts tried to build through the middle on their own pitch. Forced so many errors out of the midfielders. Passing range there too, of course.

17 Helder Costa - seven

Best we have seen from the Portuguese in weeks. When he has space to run into, as he did tonight, he can be a menace. Always looked ready to turn and sprint at Rico Henry. Deliveries into the box were improved too.

19 Pablo Hernandez - six

Heavy first touch and poor passes stood out in a first half where so many of his team-mates were on form. Some improvement in the second half as space opened up for him in attack, but always looked more comfortable out wide.

43 Mateusz Klich - seven

Stood out as the bright spark on some dull days in recent weeks and, again, looked classy tonight. Despite the miles in his legs from the past 18 months, he always seems to have that burst into the final third. Mucked in with the defending in the middle too, snapping into tackles and breaking up play.

22 Jack Harrison - seven

As with Dallas, delivered some telling balls in the first half from wide left. Had his drive inside and shot come later in the game, with his tail up, he may have bagged too. Always offered an option in space when United attacked in the second period.

9 Patrick Bamford - six

Had chances tonight, unlike Saturday, but spurned them as he has done many times this season. Team played well enough to overshadow any Bamford misses, but may have won the match for them on a better night.

Substitutes

1 Illan Meslier

3 Barry Douglas

10 Ezgjan Alioski

28 Gaetano Berardi

29 Jean-Kevin Augustin (on for Bamford 76min) - six

The odd flash inside the box, but again crowded out of anything meaningful as Brentford defended in numbers.

46 Jamie Shackleton

48 Jordan Stevens
