Leeds United player ratings as Tyler Roberts seizes his opportunity at Hull City

Leeds United (4-1-4-1)

1 Illan Meslier - six

Not a lot of work on for the Frenchman in his Championship debut. Claimed high balls and shots with confidence. One or two range-finders went out of play in the opening minutes, but sterner tests ahead for the youngster.

2 Luke Ayling - seven

Deflected or not, it was a well-hit strike from the right-back to open the scoring so early. It took the pressure and maybe allowed some complacency to creep in for the team. Very assured all afternoon. A real leader on the pitch for the side. Found himself in the final third plenty.

5 Ben White - six

Stuck to his task well in front of the box when Hull City tried building attacks, especially in the first half, but not a lot exertion required for the centre-back.

6 Liam Cooper © - six

A quiet game for the skipper and not particularly prominent at any stage. All good when you're keeping another clean sheet on the road.

15 Stuart Dallas - six

Another who did not shine especially, but stuck to his task and filled in with a midfield role, handing over the entire left flank to Jack Harrison for a lot of the game. Dependable in any position on the field.

23 Kalvin Phillips - six

Pretty slack in the opening half and allowed Hull too much freedom through the central channel. Hosts had less joy in the second period, but Phillips wasn't at his best. Didn't matter a whole lot with the lack of quality from Hull.

17 Helder Costa - seven

All the frills in the first half with no output, but second half there was an improvement. More work for George Long, but still frustrates so frequently. Towards the final quarter of the match, as space opened up, he kicked up a level and showed up Harrison on the other side.

43 Mateusz Klich - six

Always impresses with the one-touch build-up play around the opposition box. Forced a decent tip away by Long in the second half. May have had a goal if Harrison had found him with a quicker cross.

19 Pablo Hernandez - seven

Took his goal well. Not a match he put his stamp on.

22 Jack Harrison - six

Still hanging onto the ball too long when something quicker will do. When he does release it quickly things happen. Not beating the first man with many of his deliveries.

9 Patrick Bamford - six

Did not get as many chances around the box as he has done in recent weeks. Build-up play was solid.

Substitutes

25 Elia Caprile

3 Barry Douglas

10 Ezgjan Alioski (on for Harrison 88min) - N/A

11 Tyler Roberts (on for Bamford 67min) - eight

Two goals off the bench, one with his head. Very nice. Keeping him fit for the run-in is absolutely essential.

28 Gaetano Berardi

46 Jamie Shackleton (on for Hernandez 88min) - N/A

48 Jordan Stevens
