Leeds United player ratings as Alioski and Harrison fail to fire in Chelsea comeback

Leeds United (4-1-4-1)

1 Illan Meslier - six

Does not take too much blame for the goals, although he may have expected better of himself at the near post for Olivier Giroud. Did make two fantastic stops immediately prior to the corner Kurt Zouma scored from, but a few too many errors in his distribution throughout the night.

2 Luke Ayling - six

Hands were kept very full by Timo Werner throughout the evening. Did not get forward and make the impact he normally does in the final third. Penned in plenty by the Chelsea press.

5 Robin Koch - N/A

Off in the very early stages with an injury.

6 Liam Cooper (c) - six

Complained he was pushed by Zouma before he headed in Chelsea's second goal. Did manage to get United out of bother on a few of the occasions they were caught out playing from the back. Has to have some blame in letting Giroud get away for the equaliser.

10 Ezgjan Alioski - five

The odd tackle, but offered little in defence or attack. Really did not fare well when Werner or Christian Pulisic were driving at him with the ball.

23 Kalvin Phillips - seven

Delightful assist for Patrick Bamford in the fourth minute. Could not have played the arched pass any more perfectly into the striker's path. Chelsea attacked so decisively and intensely it was hard for Phillips to manage as much as he had to at times. Did not look like he put a foot wrong though.

18 Raphinha - six

Did not get the same time and space as Everton afforded him. Flitted in and out of the game, but not real penetration or threat in the final third.

43 Mateusz Klich - six

Could not get Leeds moving the way he normally does. Mason Mount, Kai Havertz and, especially, N'Golo Kante bossed the midfield and shut down the visiting creativity.

15 Stuart Dallas - six

Looked lost in the middle for spells and struggled with Chelsea's central three, as Klich did.

22 Jack Harrison - five

Quiet all evening. Much of United's best stuff came down the right flank and Harrison looked away from the main thrust of the game. Subbed off before the hour mark.

9 Patrick Bamford - six

Took his goal ever so well under pressure from Edouard Mendy and Zouma, so early in the game too when he would have still been getting up to speed. Looked well taken care of by Zouma and Thiago Silva after that.

Substitutes

13 Kiko Casilla

7 Ian Poveda (on for Harrison 57min) - six

Bright again and may have had his first goal of the season with a drive inside and shot, but saved. Ben Chilwell did not seem to struggle dealing with him while Poveda's defensive play is never going to see him at his best.

11 Tyler Roberts

14 Diego Llorente (on for Koch 9min) - seven

Thrown in at the deep end, but did excellently when you consider how rusty he is with so little football and so early in the match. Played out from the back with calmness, if not flawlessly. Had a lot of grief from the home support all evening too. Competed well.

17 Helder Costa

20 Rodrigo (on for Alioski 69min) - seven

Seemed to precipitate United's best spell of the game when he came on, but not quite enough around him to unlock the door and punish Chelsea. Loud calls for him to start next Friday.

24 Pascal Struijk
