Leeds United player ratings after Wolves roll with the first-half punches to nail narrow win

Leeds United (4-1-4-1)

1 Illan Meslier - seven

Nothing he could do about the opening goal. Massive deflection from Kalvin Phillips wrong-footed him. Made a couple of excellent saves, especially from a Raul Jimenez curler outside the box. Not a lot else for him to do, especially in the first half.

2 Luke Ayling © - seven

Played his part in the first-half dominance, popping up many times around the opposition box. Linked up well with Helder Costa down the right flank. One of a few to fade in the second period.

5 Robin Koch - eight

Another composed, assertive display from the Germany international. Won his headers, won his tackles and took risks with the ball at his feet.

21 Pascal Struijk - six

Solid in the first half, but saw some errors and slips in the second half as the pressure came on from the visitors. Initial slip gave Jimenez the time and space to begin his dribble before shooting for the opening goal.

15 Stuart Dallas - six

Steady from the Northern Ireland international. Showed willing to get forward, but nothing quite seemed to come together for him.

23 Kalvin Phillips - six

Battled with Leander Dendoncker and Joao Moutinho all evening and not always on top of it. Not the penetration the team needed from him from deep.

17 Helder Costa - seven

Started really promisingly in the first half and Wolves didn't look like they could live with him, but faded badly after the break.

43 Mateusz Klich - seven

All the drive and control in the middle of the pitch, but never quite found the key to unlock that Wolves defence.

20 Rodrigo - seven

Another who faded after the break following a superb opening half. So intelligent with everything he does and has the physical attributes to execute what his mind wants.

22 Jack Harrison - six

A steady evening which threatened to burst into life with some dangerous positions, but never did.

9 Patrick Bamford - five

One of those evenings where the service never dropped his way. Hassled and harried all he could, but the Wolves centre-backs never looked threatened.

Substitutes

13 Kiko Casilla

7 Ian Poveda (on for Costa 71min) - five

Quiet from youngster.

10 Ezgjan Alioski

11 Tyler Roberts

18 Raphinha (on for Harrison 82min) - N/A

19 Pablo Hernandez (on for Struijk 75min) - six

At the heart of things as you would want, but never found that magic pass.
