Phillips steps up for centenary win as White and Berardi shine - Leeds United player ratings

Leeds United (3-3-3-1)

13 Kiko Casilla - six

Barely called into action save for a spell of Birmingham pressure in the second half. A shame, given how pleasant the centenary goalkeeper's jersey was.

2 Luke Ayling © - six

Tidy game on the right side of a three-man defensive line. Stood up as best as he could to the physical presence of Lukas Jutkiewicz. Again mastered the dark side of the game by going down at the right time for the referee to protect him.

5 Ben White - seven

Not a match where he even needed to approach fourth or fifth gear and as such he didn't need to sparkle as he normally does.

28 Gaetano Berardi - seven

Read the game excellently with interceptions and recovering challenges which dug a few of his team-mates out of holes during the afternoon.

15 Stuart Dallas - six

Had an excellent chance to break the deadlock in the first half with most of the goal to aim at before shooting straight at Lee Camp. More under the radar than of late.

23 Kalvin Phillips - eight

Passing, pressing and clean tackling as usual, but a crucial goal to add to his armoury too. A long run forward from deep, keeping up with play, allowed him to receive Jack Harrison's pass and shoot through Camp to lift the pressure which has hung over Elland Road for weeks.

10 Ezgjan Alioski - six

Ran and ran and ran. One gorgeous pass over the top across 60 yards to find Patrick Bamford in behind. Generally lacking in the final third still though. Had more than one chance inside the six-yard box and fluffed it.

17 Helder Costa - six

A shade better than what we saw at Charlton Athletic and Millwall, but still not quite having running games and terrorising defences from the right as he should be. Did show something in the first half though.

43 Mateusz Klich  - six

Up and down the pitch, popping up in the half spaces, but little bearing on the game.

22 Jack Harrison - six

Still struggling with that final ball, that final decision on the whole, but deserves credit for the Phillips assist and nearly set up Bamford for the opener with the first real chance of the game.

9 Patrick Bamford - five

Days after a international hat-trick for Eddie Nketiah, Bamford had one of those afternoons to forget. Again found himself on the end of his customary two chances, but found the net with neither. May be looking forward to another evening trip to Preston North End.

Substitutes

30 Kamil Miazek

3 Barry Douglas (on for Costa 84min) - N/A

11 Tyler Roberts (on for Klich 61min) - seven

Brought urgency, drive and good dribbling to the centre of the park for United and made things happen most of the time he was on the ball.

14 Eddie Nketiah (on for Bamford h/t) - six

For all of the calls for him to replace Bamford, he had his half and didn't do a whole lot with it. Could see the frustration when he didn't get the final passes where he wanted them.

36 Robbie Gotts

40 Leif Davis

47 Jack Clarke
