Leeds United player ratings after crushing Derby County drama at Elland Road

Leeds United (4-1-4-1)

33 Kiko Casilla - four

Premier League goalkeepers have done much for the reputation of the sweeper 'keeper role in modern football over the past couple of seasons, but this was a night when all of the frailties of that high-risk role were laid bare. Casilla has had a few difficult moments during the final weeks of the regular campaign and just after he came out of Pride Park unscathed this was a torrid night for him. The former Real Madrid man seemed to spend as much time out of his box as in it. Too keen to launch off of his line and a communication breakdown with his defenders too many.

2 Luke Ayling - six

Contributed an all-action display which summed up the dominance of the first half, but when the confidence drained out of the team at the start of the second it seemed to start with him. Passes were misplaced and good shooting opportunities were blasted into the Revie Stand.

28 Gaetano Berardi - five

Few were unhappy to see him starting again despite Pontus Jansson's recovery, but after what was turning out to be another solid display at the back we saw the side of Berardi so many fans actually admire and enjoy seeing providing he stays on the pitch. After a series of niggly 50-50s in the middle of the park, the Swiss took one nibble too many at Bradley Johnson and right under Anthony Taylor's nose saw his second yellow.

6 Liam Cooper © - seven

Has to take his share of the blame with Casilla for Derby's opener, but generally a polished, reassuring performance from the captain at the back as the team needed calm heads to guide them through seriously choppy waters.

15 Stuart Dallas - nine

Who would have picked out the utility man as the Whites' man of the match coming into such a big game. The composure of the man, dribbling into the Derby box, to have the nerve to caress the ball into the far corner was beyond belief. All over the pitch and integral as the Whites looked for options beyond Pablo Hernandez in the final third.

23 Kalvin Phillips - seven

Ran the match in the first half and kept Mason Mount quiet once again, but as the second half unravelled, with a man disadvantage it was very hard for him to continue to have that same impact.

19 Pablo Hernandez - five

Missing in action for weeks and tonight was no different. No energy, guile or end product. Whites were long looking for different options in the final third by the time the second half was in full swing.

43 Mateusz Klich - six

Looked like one of the key men with his running from deep in the first half and even in the second half proved a valuable link-up man, first on the counter to support Patrick Bamford. Just did not have the legs to keep the ball turning into the final quarter.

46 Jamie Shackleton - seven

Again a shining light for the Whites and deserved to be on the winning team. Tenacity and work rate in abundance. Better days for him to share with United in the future.

22 Jack Harrison - seven

Followed up on his excellent first leg display with another above-average turn from the on-loan Manchester City winger. Showed much more composure and end product than we have seen in the majority of matches from him all season.

9 Patrick Bamford - five

A first-minute burst beyond Fikayo Tomori had promised so much, but this was another of those isolated displays from the striker, who possesses nothing like the movement, pace or guile of Kemar Roofe. Scrapped with Richard Keogh all night, but it was a battle he was losing.

Substitutes

1 Bailey Peacock-Farrell

18 Pontus Jansson

37 Izzy Brown (on for Bamford) - N/A

A late roll of the dice from Marcelo Bielsa to inspire the narrative gods, but little beyond a free-kick over the crossbar.

47 Jack Clarke (on for Klich) - six

A look for the danger which has long dissipated since the last time he played Derby here.

50 Pascal Struijk

53 Robbie Gotts

58 Mateusz Bogusz
