Leeds United Player of the Year decided with less than one per cent between top two

Less than one per cent of the vote separated the top two picks by Leeds United fans for their Player of the Year.

LeedsLive gave readers the chance to pick their best player of the first year back in the Premier League with a shortlist of five names.

Luke Ayling, Patrick Bamford, Stuart Dallas, Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha was the final five we whittled the squad down to.

More than 9,000 of you picked your favourite and it came down to the tightest of margins between Dallas and Raphinha.

While they took 28 per cent of the poll apiece, Dallas ended up nicking in front by just 35 votes, despite Raphinha’s eye-catching shows of flair on the pitch.

As an attacking player, Raphinha is always likely to garner more attention and generate more match-winning headlines, but our readers have recognised the efforts of Dallas too.

As an ever-present in a remarkable campaign for the club, the Northern Ireland international has played across a variety of positions and not played badly in any of them.

Dallas has consistently provided a high level of performance. It is almost impossible to think of any particularly bad matches he has had this term.

Despite playing at left-back for large spells of the season, Dallas has still contributed five goals and two assists for the squad too, which shows his impact at both ends of the pitch.

Bamford was third in the poll with 22 per cent of the vote, while Ayling was fourth with 13 per cent and Phillips fifth on our list with eight per cent.
